Department of Sculpture

The Department of Sculpture offers a four-year specialization degree course. We help students create innovative three-dimensional forms using various media. My department focuses on fostering innovative creations through form and materials, which helps generate new employment opportunities with a strong aesthetic focus.

We prepare students for the contemporary market by combining aesthetics with practical knowledge on how to earn a living. The department provides diverse knowledge regarding methods and materials.

Courses include Life Drawing and Study, Study from Life, Composition, Plaster of Paris, Terracotta, Wood Carving, Stone Carving, Metal Casting, Fiber glass Casting, Ceramics, Mixed Media, etc.

Students explore realistic, semi-realistic, and abstract forms, alongside theoretical papers on the History of Art and Methods and Materials. My department aims to develop complete artists with an aesthetic and innovative sense who will contribute to the artistic heritage of India and the world.

Department of Graphics (Printmaking)

Printmaking is a versatile art form used to create multiple copies (impressions) of a single work of art on paper, cloth, or other materials, using a surface (matrix) such as wood, metal, or stone. This technique is extremely useful in economically disseminating art, showcasing creativity in a variety of mediums, and producing limited editions (limited editions) of similar works of art.

Key features and benefits of printmaking:

Reproduction capability: The greatest advantage of printmaking is that many identical copies can be made from a single plate, called 'editions' or 'versions'.

Widespread dissemination of art: It is an accessible way to make artworks accessible to the general public, as multiple prints can be produced of the same original design.

Diverse Techniques: This includes a variety of techniques such as relief printing, intaglio (engraved metal), lithography, and screen printing, which allow artists to create different textures and effects.

Unique artistic expression: Each print, called an "impression," can be considered an original work of art. Artists often sign and number these prints.

Commercial and artistic uses: It is used not only for creating artwork for art galleries, but also extensively for book illustrations, posters and designs on clothing (screen printing).

Freedom to experiment: Artists can develop their own individual style by experimenting with different colors, papers, and surfaces.

In short, printmaking provides an effective medium for artists to replicate their creativity and make it accessible to art lovers in an affordable way.

Department of Painting

The future of painting is vast and full of possibilities. If a person possesses creative thinking, an understanding of colors, and imagination, painting can become a successful career.

Today, painting isn't limited to canvas. Artists can become fine artists, freelance painters, art teachers/lecturers, illustrators, animators, art directors, and digital artists. Teaching opportunities are available in schools, colleges, and art institutes.

The increasing use of digital platforms has opened up new avenues for selling paintings through online art classes, NFT art, social media, and e-commerce. Art galleries, exhibitions, and competitions provide artists with recognition. Painting is also used in interior design, the fashion industry, advertising, film, and gaming. If one practices consistently, learns new techniques, and develops one's own unique style, the future of painting can be bright and successful.
